On 27 October 2005 the then Director of Gas received a notice from Alinta Infrastructure Holdings (AIH) regarding the construction of a new off-take facility for the connection of new gas turbines at Bell Bay. The Regulator notes that such off-take facilities are already included in the existing authority in AIH's licence for both construction and operation of the transmission pipeline.   Alinta Bell Bay Site Plan May 2001   (1Mb)

BOC Limited surrenders its licence to operate a pipeline facility in Tasmania, effective 30 June 2021

In June 2021, the Regulator received notice of the surrender of the Gas Pipeline (Operations) Licence held by BOC Limited that authorises the operation of a pipeline facility at its Westbury plant. The notice requested the surrender take effect on 30 June 2021.

BOC Limited's Licence was issued under the Gas Pipelines Act 2000 (Pipelines Act) on 12 March 2011. The proclamation of the Gas Industry Act 2019 (Industry Act) on 3 February 2021 repealed the Pipelines Act. Under the Industry Act, BOC is not required to hold a licence to operate a pipeline facility.

Section 37(2)(a) of the Industry Act requires that at least six months' notice of the surrender be given to the Regulator. However, as BOC Limited is no longer required to hold its Licence, the Regulator reduced the period notice to enable a surrender date of 30 June 2021.
