Final Report and Determination
On 28 November 2025, the Regulator released its Final Report and Price Determination for the owner-operator taxi licence reserve price investigation and a notice of the making of a reserve price determination.
The Final Report and Price Determination set out the minimum price that a new owner-operator taxi licence can be purchased from the Transport Commission for the period 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029 for each calendar year and each of the 24 taxi areas in Tasmania.
Draft Report and Price Determination
The Regulator has published its Draft Report setting out its intended determination of reserve prices for owner-operator taxi licences in Tasmania's 24 taxi areas for the period 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2029.
The period of public consultation on the Draft Report ended on 17 September 2025.

The Regulator has published a fact sheet, outlining matters relevant to the investigation, along with a short survey for interested parties to complete. The survey closed on 6 June 2025.
Notice
of intention to conduct an investigation
On 15 May 2025, the Regulator issued a Notice of Intention to conduct an investigation into reserve prices for owner‑operator taxi licences in Tasmania to all holders of Tasmanian taxi licences.
On that same day, the Regulator published a Notice of Investigation in three mainland Tasmanian newspapers and on King Island. A Notice of Investigation will be published on Flinders Island on 23 May 2025.
Terms of Reference
Terms of reference for this investigation have been given to the Regulator by the Minister for Transport and the Treasurer in accordance with section 66E(2)(b) of the Taxi and Hire Vehicle Industries Act 2008.
